Lo1 - Script
When you go shopping, do you bring your own reusable bag? 4 trillion plastic bags are used yearly. Only 1% of which are recycled. 32% of the 78 trillion tons of plastic packaging makes its way into the ocean every year. That's equivalent to 1 dump truck dumping into the ocean every minuet. Worldwide, we buy 1 million plastic bottles every minuet. Whilst most plastic bottles are recyclable, only about 23% end up being recycled. Together, these are figures that we can easily change. With help from companies such as The Bare Alternative, who offer alternatives for environmentally damaging products.
After gaining an insightful understanding on the impact of alternative plastic products from Matthew, we decided to ask the citizens of Sheffield their opinions on climate change and whether they personally take any precautions in over to help prevent this issue.
So it seems that we do in fact have a good understanding on how to prevent climate change, but is it enough?
Here are some things you can do to make a difference. Swap basic household plastic products for permanent, just as cooperative products such as metal straws, woven bags, wooden toothbrushes. Take your own bags and containers to shops and recycle! Together, we can make a difference.
